March-April 2021 Newsletter: “Keep planting the seeds—I’ll do the rest!”

Apr 2, 2021 | Newsletters

Dear friends and family,

A few years ago I was struggling with not doing enough and not seeing enough results. As I was praying about it, the Lord spoke clearly to me: “Give me something to work with. You keep planting the seeds—I’ll do the rest!” What a relief and comfort from the Holy Spirit!

Hope for the Children

Hope for the ChildrenPrincipal Dan and his wife, Hope, have lived in Gambia since 2002 and pastor a church in Bakau. Hope oversees the children’s ministry in their congregation and has been volunteering at the school with the Sunday School Outreach program. She is trained in children’s ministry and sharing the gospel with children is her passion. Her observations are that Gambia is a beautiful country, but there is moral decadence caused by poor upbringing, emphasis on materialism, single parenting, and polygamous families that affect the children. Many children engage in gambling, masquerading, games, club houses, and online pornography after school.

Hope also observed there is a lack of corporate effort within the Body of Christ in Lamin-Wayeto are, to reach the kids. There are few churches who show active participation in children’s evangelism and outreach. Therefore, we are working with Hope in the planning stages of starting an after-school outreach program, Radiance Kids Club, in April. This has been on our hearts for a long time, and we are beyond excited!

Planting Seeds of God’s Word and Love

Planting seeds of God's Word and LoveWe resumed the Sunday School ministry at the school for the children in the Lamin community in mid-January. It started with about 25 children and now the number of children, youths, and young adults attending is around 70! Hope said she has not seen such rapid growth in the 19 years she and Mr. Dan have been ministering in Gambia. Along with Pastor Francis, they are teaching the Word of God through Bible stories, worship songs, and Bible verses.

With the rapid growth, they have divided the groups by age to be more effective. We enjoy seeing the short videos they send us with children singing and reciting memory verses, and we see God’s power is at work in them. As we support these faithful believers to minister the gospel, we pray that just as the Lord spoke to us, He will grow to maturity the seeds that are being planted.

Ministry Outreach Growth

Ministry Outreach GrowthThe ministry in the Faalah village continues to grow in numbers and hunger for God’s truth. Pastor Robert is training a believer from the village to help him in prayer and discipleship. In February they held a three-day evangelism outreach with the congregations from the three villages where he ministers. All the believers came together in Youna for a thanksgiving and worship service. God was present in their midst and people were delivered, healed, and set free from addictions and oppressions from the enemy. Many people testified of God’s healing and His touch on their lives. To God be the Glory!

Servant Leadership Training

Servant Leadership TrainingOne way we continue to work from a distance is by empowering and equipping the ministry partners through regular leadership trainings via phone. Our desire is to teach them teamwork and train them to lead as servant leaders. The response has been positive, their understanding has grown, and they feel empowered. Their communication has improved, they participate in each other’s ministry events, and pray for each other regularly. We pray God will continue to anoint and empower them with the power of the Holy Spirit, use them for His Kingdom to be revealed in Gambia, and that He will send others who are ready and willing to join “The Gambia Team” to change a nation by the power of God!

Container Update

Because of massive port backups due to the pandemic, the container was finally shipped out at the end of March. We did not anticipate this delay, but believe it is all in God’s timing. The delay is giving us time to organize the distribution process on the ground and to prepare the team ahead of time.

We are so grateful for your partnership and support in this work of God in Gambia; we truly cannot do what we do without you! Just as we are encouraging the Gambians to work together, it takes this kind of collaboration to see the Great Commission fulfilled on earth. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We pray for God’s abundant blessings on you and your families; may He reward you with His Spiritual blessings.

Happy Easter to you and your family! He is Risen!

Blessings and much love,

Sol and Manuela Bah
